Dr. Costello is recognised internationally for his work in Respiratory Medicine. Michael’s experience in venture capital was won in the vanguard of the electronic trading revolution, first with joint venture work in the financial services industry at the London Stock Exchange, next with member markets of the Federation of European Stock Exchanges, then as Co-founder & CEO of the Tradepoint Stock Exchange, the groundbreaking electronic market which since became a unit of the Swiss Stock Exchange, and subsequently with other developing entrepreneurial businesses. Originally trained as a physicist, Michael Waller-Bridge was recruited to the London Stock Exchange during the “Big Bang” transitions of the 1980’s, joining a team focusing on the market’s development of future electronic and trading services. Before then Michael had been instrumental, together with colleagues from Imperial College, London University, in a venture which developed opto-digital holographic recording techniques for medical imaging applications. Michael is a Member of the Securities and Investment Institute and a Member of the peer-appointed World Technology Network, where he also serves as a Nominator in the annual WTN Awards process. Over the past two years he has also served on the investment committee and as an investment manager to a pre-IPO fund based in London which invests in expansion phased companies with no sector bias.

Dr. Marilyn Glenville PhD is a registered member of the Nutrition Society, a Fellow of The Royal Society of Medicine, psychologist, author and broadcaster who obtained her doctorate from Cambridge University.

Dr. Glenville has studied and practised nutrition for over 25 years, both in the UK and in the USA, focusing on the natural approach to female hormone problems. Today she is recognised as the UK’s leading nutritionist specialising in women’s health.

She is the President of the Food and Health Forum at the Royal Society of Medicine and is a patron of the Daisy Network, a charity for premature menopause. Dr. Glenville was also formerly an observer on the Food Standards Agency’s Expert Group on the safety of vitamins and minerals. Dr. Glenville has had many papers published in scientific journals, frequently advises health professionals and has lectured at academic conferences held at The Medical Society, The Royal College of Physicians and The Royal College of Surgeons.

Stephanie French is a nutrition strategy consultant to the food industry. She is a Registered Nutritionist in the UK and has an MSc in Nutrition from the University of Sheffield as well as an MA in Philosophy and Psychology from the University of Oxford. She has also recently completed some part-time post-graduate research at the Hugh Sinclair Unit of Human Nutrition, University of Reading on the links between diet and sub-clinical health complaints. Stephanie has extensive commercial experience, having run her own sales and marketing consultancy for over 15 years. Professor Adam Carey is a doctor, nutritionist and leading commentator on all areas of sports nutrition and human performance.

After qualifying from Oxford University Medical School in 1988, he went on to become an accredited specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with sub-specialist interests in endocrinology and nutrition.

Adam left the NHS in 1998 to actively develop the use of nutritional and lifestyle strategies to improve human performance and reduce the risk of disease through proactive preventative medical management.

Adam was Head of Nutrition for the England Rugby Football Union from 1999 to 2006 which included their World Cup win, and performed a similar role for the England Cricket squad in 2005, prior to their success reclaiming the Ashes. His new role is consultant to the British Olympic Association in the preparation for the 2012 Olympic Games.

Bryan is an independent non-executive director (NED) and board level advisor. He is currently a Non-Executive Director at a major government department, also an Audit Committee member and Chair of Client Standards (for accuracy, complaints and appeals). In addition he has been appointed as external adviser to the CEO and programme board of a 3 year £250m Operational Improvement Programme (OIP) project, which includes substantial staff and process change, also contact centre and IT systems improvements.

Bryan also provides retained board level advice to a small number of businesses creating innovative services for consumers, these are often technology based and mainly deployed by large scale consumer organisations. James was born and raised in Seattle, Washington but has spent the last 20 years working in the consumer retail, media, healthcare and technology industries in Europe. To date he has co-founded and served as Managing Director of five companies in Germany and the UK, building each business from start-up to profitability. James' most recent company, New Medical Ltd. provides evidence-based, preventative health screening services to patients through GPs and major health retailers. New Medical Limited delivers evidence based screening services to patients either through their GPs or direct to the consumer. Its focus is on technology supported, preventative medicine that is currently underserved by the NHS and private providers. Mr Ewan Reid

Ewan (52) is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer and Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.

Ewan has wide-ranging experience in mechanical design engineering across a spectrum of applications from automated materials handling, food processing equipment, oil well drilling equipment, oil and gas pipeline connection systems, and polymer and glass reinforced plastic products. In these connections he has worked with digital electronics and microcontroller systems since 1979. His extensive experience with leading companies in their field included appointments with Unilever Research Laboratories (3 years), Hunting Oilfield Services (10 years) and Lansing Bagnall Ltd (5 years) with responsibilities in research, design and general management. Ewan also gained direct experience in the wellness sector through contract work as a supplier to Balmoral Wellbeing.

Ewan set up Progreen Ltd in March 2003 in partnership with his son, a Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence specialist, to design customised process control systems and provide general design consultancy services. Products to date have included a custom design pipe connection machine, waste water treatment control and monitoring equipment and leisure products. Ewan was educated at Aberdeen Grammar School and is a graduate of Robert Gordon's University, Scotland (HND Mech Eng) and Gwent College of Higher Education (CEng).

Laurie Rostron has considerable knowledge and experience of the healthcare industry gained from nearly 30 years working for multinational healthcare companies and over 23 years in the venture capital industry as an investor, an Adviser and a Non Executive Chairman/Director.

For 13 years he was a General Partner of Alta Berkeley Associates specialising in start up and early stage advanced technology investments in the healthcare industry on a pan European basis. Since his retirement from Alta Berkeley 10 years ago, he has been an Independent Venture Capital Adviser. During the past 23 years he has been a Non Executive Director of over 20 different healthcare companies with a wide range of leading edge technologies including drug discovery, biotechnology, devices, implants, medical equipment and diagnostics, all operating in high growth international markets.

He was previously the Managing Director of Viggo International, an intravenous products company within the BOC Healthcare Group, the General Manager of a division of G.D. Searle & Co and the Marketing Manager of the Hospital Division of Johnson & Johnson.

He has extensive experience of nurturing start up companies, organising and raising new finance, advising on management development, organisation and recruitment, strategic planning and strategic alliances and the IPO process.

He is 73 years old and he currently has one Non Executive Chairmanship, two Non Executive Directorships and is an Adviser to two Venture Capital Funds and an early stage orthopaedic company.

Dr. Scott is currently Professor of Medicine and Cardiovascular Medicine at Imperial College London. He was previously Chair of Medicine and Chief of Service, Chief of Cardiology and Head of Molecular Medicine at The Royal Postgraduate Medical School, Hammersmith Hospital. He was founder and first Head of The Institute of Genetics and Genomics and founder of the Bioinformatics Centre at Imperial College London. He is a member of the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO), and was EMBO fellow at the University of California, San Francisco. He has received prizes from The Royal College of Physicians London, Glaxo Smith Kline, and Bristol Myers Squibb. He was elected Fellow of the Royal Society in 1997. He is distinguished for the discovery of RNA editing and common genetic variation causing dyslipidaemia, heart disease and obesity. Current interests include genome wide association and systems biology studies in cardiovascular and metabolic disease, and preventive cardiology. He has a particular interest in health and wellbeing into longevity, through disease prevention. He received his medical degree at London University in 1971. Dr. Scott is the author of many seminal publications.

Ben joined UB as a marketing graduate in 1989. Following 4 years of progression in various marketing roles covering new product development and brand building he joined Kraft Foods UK as a Senior Brand Manager. He progressed to Marketing Manager for Kraft’s flagship coffee business before moving to Kraft’s head office in Chicago as Manager of Strategy for two of Kraft Foods North America’s biggest divisions – Meals and Enhancers.

Ben returned to the UK in 1999 as Category Director for Coffee and Confectionery assuming strategic, operational and financial responsibility for brands such as Kenco, Maxwell House, Terry’s of York, Toblerone and Suchard. Having delivered three consecutive years of strong market share, revenue and income growth he transferred to Melbourne as Area Director and Vice President for Kraft Foods Australia, New Zealand and Asia Pacific Exports. Under Ben’s leadership in Australia Kraft delivered record revenue and income performances.

Ben returned to the UK in 2006 as Area Director and Vice President for Kraft Foods UK and Ireland where he again delivered strong top and bottom line performances while growing share in 4 of 5 categories. In March 2008 Ben left Kraft as he did not wish to relocate to Kraft Europe’s new headquarters in Zurich.

As well as consistently delivering strong business results over a long period Ben also championed Kraft’s CSR agenda focussing on combating obesity by leading an integrated programme of enhanced food labelling, enhanced product nutrition through reformulation and by introducing self-regulated marketing restrictions. Additionally he drove Kraft’s “Health 4 Schools” program in Gloucestershire and the increasing use of ethically sourced commodities – notably coffee.

Ben was recognised for these contributions in 2007 when HRH The Prince of Wales appointed him as an Ambassador for Business in the Community.

Zef Eisenberg is considered to be one of the leading experts on physique nutrition in the UK. He personally led the development and awareness of sports nutrition in the UK and its application in helping people transform their physique and increase their sporting performance. He is the author of several best selling books on the subject of training, performance nutrition, bodybuilding and owns leading websites on these topics.

With two decades of personal and financial involvement in the industry, Zef remains at the cutting edge of sports nutrition development and legislation.
